In a few hours, it’s “good night, and good luck” for Windows XP. Good night to the Microsoft PC operating system as it hits its official end of life. And good luck to the people and companies who continue to use it. Microsoft (MSFT) will no longer support Windows XP after Tuesday. That means no more bug fixes and security updates for the more than 12-year-old operating system. Microsoft has been trying to encourage Windows XP users to upgrade to Windows 7 or 8, but as of March 31 about 28% of PCs on the Internet were still using XP, according to Net Applications. Microsoft says a primary reason to move off of Windows XP is the threat of security breaches. “Without critical Windows XP security updates, your PC may become vulnerable to harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software which can steal or damage your business data and information,” Microsoft said on its countdown-clock page. Microsoft also is ending support for Office 2003.   Scalper1 News
