GoPro trying to go pro with live sports video

GoPro (GPRO) is taking its own advice and going pro with the video its action cameras produce. GoPro has partnered with U.K.-based Vislink to develop live wireless high-definition video transmission systems for the professional broadcast market. GoPro wants to give sports fans the perspective of athletes as they are competing. To date, GoPro videos are shared after a sporting event, such as skiing, surfing, snowboarding or bike racing. GoPro now wants to break into the live sports broadcast game. GoPro and Vislink will equip GoPro Hero 4 cameras with professional-grade, live, HD broadcast capabilities. The two companies have been working on a transmitter that is small enough to be worn or mounted to provide all new perspectives for people watching their favorite live sports and events, GoPro said in a press release Wednesday.
