Ciena (CIEN) may have found a quick way to boost its presence in the emerging Software Defined Networking and Network Functions Virtualization markets. The leading telecom fiber-optic networking equipment company on Monday said it plans to acquire Cyan (CYNI), a metro optical supplier, which is the first to actively market NFV/SDN orchestration software to carriers and Internet services providers, for about $400 million in cash and stock.
