64% of mobile game revenue is from 0.23% of players

The freemium mobile game model remains very dependent on a tiny sliver of users for a majority of revenue, according to a new report, with just 0.23% of players accounting for 64% of total revenue. Mobile games, including King Digital Entertainment’s (KING) “Candy Crush Saga” and SuperCell’s “Clash of Clans,” make their money off of optional in-game purchases offering more turns, more weapons, etc. that give players an extra advantage.
