Venture capital firms have raised $23.7 billion in funding commitments in the first nine months of this year, surpassing the $17.6 billion the industry raised in all of 2013. VC firms raised $6 billion in the third quarter, down 22% from Q2 but up 40% from the year-ago quarter, reports the National Venture Capital Association.
