Microblog Twitter (TWTR) officially launched its live-streaming video service Periscope on Thursday, taking aim at rival apps, including Meerkat, that let users live-stream directly from their smartphones. Twitter bought Periscope in January and shortly afterward began restricting Meerkat’s access to its network.
