Jokes fly as Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer buys Clippers

As news broke late Thursday that former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is buying the Los Angeles Clippers basketball team, people took to Twitter to post wisecracks. Predictably, most of the humor made fun of Ballmer’s years running Microsoft (MSFT) and the company’s many missteps. Quite a few Twitter (TWTR) cutups joked that Ballmer would resurrect Microsoft’s much-maligned Office assistant Clippy, the animated paperclip, as its new mascot. Greg Meyer tweeted, “Future News Flash: Steve Ballmer brings Clippy out of retirement to be new LA Clippers mascot.” Paul Merrill quipped, “Steve Ballmer buys LA Clippers, renames them Clippys.”  

Twitter Gets Another Upgrade As Price Looks Right

Twitter’s (TWTR) beleaguered stock got an upgrade Thursday morning on the back of another upgrade Wednesday, sending Twitter stock up nearly 3% in early trading on the stock market today, near 35. Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Youssef Squali upgraded the stock to buy from hold and maintained his price target of 40, saying that the halving of the stock price over the past three months — shares traded near 67 in February — is resetting expectations.

IPO Stock Watch: Twitter Pops 11% On Analyst Upgrade

Twitter (TWTR) stock rose nearly 11%, to 33.77, in heavy trading Wednesday as Nomura Equity raised its rating to buy from neutral, with a price target of 43.
