As news broke late Thursday that former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is buying the Los Angeles Clippers basketball team, people took to Twitter to post wisecracks. Predictably, most of the humor made fun of Ballmer’s years running Microsoft (MSFT) and the company’s many missteps. Quite a few Twitter (TWTR) cutups joked that Ballmer would resurrect Microsoft’s much-maligned Office assistant Clippy, the animated paperclip, as its new mascot. Greg Meyer tweeted, “Future News Flash: Steve Ballmer brings Clippy out of retirement to be new LA Clippers mascot.” Paul Merrill quipped, “Steve Ballmer buys LA Clippers, renames them Clippys.” Scalper1 News
