Sprint posts penny profit but loses subscribers again

Sprint early Wednesday reported its first quarterly profit in more than six years, but it again lost highly valued “postpaid” subscribers — a trend that CEO Dan Hesse says will reverse in the December quarter. Tablet computer users will account for the postpaid gains. Tablet users bring in less revenue than smartphone users, but the outlook represents improvement for the wireless carrier. Sprint (S) posted a 1-cent profit in the June quarter, its fiscal Q1. Analysts had expected a 1-cent loss. Sprint said that it lost 245,000 postpaid subscribers, down from Scalper1 News
