Google’s gigabit gambit could soon rattle more of the nation’s broadband service providers. The Internet giant is expected to announce by year-end the expansion of its high-speed broadband Internet service into more U.S. markets. Google (GOOGL) has been in talks with 34 cities and suburbs in nine U.S. markets to expand its Google Fiber service, which provides Internet access at speeds of 1 gigabit per second (Gbps).
