Deep discounts and sales via mobile devices provided many merry returns for U.S. online sellers at the start of the holiday season. More retailers offered early online sales to lure shoppers as the economy recovers. U.S. online sales on Black Friday through 3 p.m. ET rose 9% vs. the year-earlier period, says IBM (IBM).
