Chip equipment sector poised for more M&A deals

The semiconductor manufacturing equipment market is poised for more mergers and acquisitions, Pacific Crest Securities says. “As semiconductor technology becomes more challenging and chipmakers consolidate, scale becomes increasingly important for semiconductor equipment companies,” Pacific Crest analyst Weston Twigg said in a note Wednesday. He points out that many acquiring companies have performed well after recent chip-gear mergers. Mergers are giving acquiring companies “more holistic product development,” as well as higher cash returns, improved cost synergies and operating leverage, Twigg said. The deals also Scalper1 News
