Chip Sales This Year Better Than Expected: Gartner

Semiconductor companies are back in the chips, at least for now. Market tracker Gartner has raised its forecast for worldwide chip sales to 6.7% growth, whereas it had been expecting 5.4%, led by memory chips. But Gartner expects growth to slip next year. The research firm expects global semiconductor sales of $336 billion this year, Gartner said in a report released Tuesday.
