Worldwide tablet shipments fell for the fourth straight quarter on a year-over-year basis, with Apple’s (AAPL) iPad leading the retreat. Tablet shipments declined 12.6% to 48.7 million units in the third quarter, research firm IDC reported Thursday. Apple was the top vendor in Q3 with 20.3% market share, but its shipments dropped 19.7% to 9.9 million units.
