Apple-IBM alliance a big setback for BlackBerry

The global partnership of Apple (AAPL) and IBM (IBM) in enterprise mobility scored high marks from Wall Street on Wednesday. But it was another setback for BlackBerry (BBRY). Late Tuesday, Apple and IBM announced an exclusive partnership that will bring IBM’s Big Data and analytics capabilities to Apple’s iPhone and iPad. IBM will create more than 100 industry-specific enterprise solutions, including native apps, developed from the ground up, for Apple’s iOS mobile devices. IBM also will provide cloud computing service optimized for iOS, including device management, security, analytics and mobile integration. Plus, IBM will provide packaged offerings for device activation, supply and management. And Apple will provide AppleCare support service tailored for enterprise customers. Apple was up 1%, near 96, in afternoon trading in the stock market today. BM stock was up more than 2%, near 193.
