Twitter (TWTR) stock has been hitting record highs in recent days on optimism about the company’s ability to drive advertising revenue through promoted tweets. But some Twitter users have noticed an increase in ads in their timelines lately and have been complaining about the volume and nature of those ads. Dozens of Twitter users have aired their complaints about promoted tweets over the last couple of days, calling them intrusive and often poorly targeted. A few examples: “Promoted tweets are seriously annoying,” Jason Stanciu tweeted Wednesday. “So sick of seeing promoted tweets. #twitter #stop,” Joe Oliver tweeted Thursday . “Did Twitter pump up promoted tweets for Christmas or something? I’ve seen probably more than two dozen today alone and it is really annoying,” Twitter user @gilaymord wrote Wednesday. “These stupid promoted tweets are getting on my nerves. I don’t give a damn about Kleenex,” Twitter user @jelluhbabe wrote Wednesday. Scalper1 News
