Apple in talks with TV programmers for Internet service

Apple (AAPL) has been trying for years to break into the Internet television business with plans to offer a package of basic cable channels that could serve as an alternative to traditional pay-TV services. But Apple hasn’t been able to secure the content deals needed to make it happen. Now that Dish Network (DISH) and Sony (SNE) have blazed a trail with such services, Apple once again is looking to enter the over-the-top television business. Apple is now negotiating with TV programmers and has shown demos of its proposed service, Re/code reported Wednesday. Apple’s talks with TV programmers are at an early stage, and details like pricing and timing still need to be worked out, Re/code said. ‘Grand Theft Auto’ maker slays holiday quarter targets

Take-Two Interactive Software (TTWO), publisher of the “Grand Theft Auto” video game series, murdered December quarter estimates, but investors arrested its climb into record high territory. Take-Two late Tuesday reported fiscal third-quarter earnings that soundly beat Wall Street estimates. It earned $1.87 a share excluding items, up 10% year over year, on sales of $954 million, up 24%. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters predicted that Take-Two would earn $1.52 a share on sales of $798 million. But Take-Two stock was down 2.5% in midday trading on the stock market today, near 29. Take-Two stock hit an all-time high of 30.80 on Jan. 28. Take-Two’s Q3 got a boost from the launch of “Grand Theft Auto Online” and “Grand Theft Auto 5” for Microsoft’s (MSFT) Xbox One and Sony’s (SNE) PlayStation 4. Sony Partners With Spotify For PlayStation Music

Sony (SNE) said Wednesday that it’s teaming with Spotify to provide a new digital music service for its PlayStation game network. The announcement, on Sony’s PlayStation blog, says the new service will be called PlayStation Music, with digital music service Spotify as the exclusive partner with Sony Network Entertainment International.
