America’s late-night comedians have found a lot to laugh about in the tech industry lately — from creepy Facebook (FB) applications to Kim Kardashian’s hit video game for Glu Mobile (GLUU). Other targets in recent weeks include Amazon.com (AMZN), Apple (AAPL), Netflix (NFLX), Twitter (TWTR), Microsoft ‘s (MSFT) Bing and online dating services. Microsoft seeks to reinvent productivity, plans reorg

Five months after becoming Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella on Thursday laid out a broad mission for the software giant in a 3,200-word memo to employees. Nadella heralded sweeping changes ahead for the Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft (MSFT). He said that the company will be reorganized to deliver products and innovations more quickly to customers. He did not mention possible layoffs, which have been rumored. He scrapped predecessor Steve Ballmer’s description of Microsoft as a “devices and services company.” At its core, Microsoft is a “productivity and platform company for the mobile-first and cloud-first world,” Nadella said in the memo titled “Starting FY15 — Bold Ambition & Our Core.” Microsoft’s fiscal 2015 began July 1.
