Tableau, Qlik, PTC Seen With Best Upside

The best bets in enterprise software for the second half of year are in data analytics and computer aided design. That’s the assessment from Steve Koenig, an analyst for Wedbush Securities, in a research report Tuesday. Koenig’s top picks in the sectors are Tableau Software (DATA), the leading data analytics software maker; its chief rival, Qlik Technologies (QLIK); and CAD software maker PTC (PTC), which competes with Dassault Systemes (DASTY)

Baidu’s Qunar Rejects Ctrip Offer, Doubles Revenue

China travel website Qunar Cayman Islands (QUNR) reported better-than-expected first-quarter results late Monday and revealed that rival Ctrip.com had offered to buy the company. On May 8, Qunar said in the earnings release, “we received an unsolicited offer from Ctrip.com International (CTRP) to acquire all of our outstanding shares. After careful consideration of such offer, we declined to pursue it in a letter response dated June 1, 2015.”

Intel-Altera Deal Seen Fueling Growth In Cloud, IoT

For Intel CEO Brian Krzanich, his company’s $16.7 billion acquisition of programmable chipmaker Altera, finally made official early Monday, is “closely aligned” with Intel’s aggressive push into new growth markets. Integrating Altera’s (ALTR) field-programmable gate arrays will help Intel (INTC) sell more Xeon server chips to cloud-computing customers and also boost Intel’s offerings in the growing Internet of Things market, particularly in
