Will Apple stock split give its shares a boost?

Apple (AAPL) stock was split 7-for-1 after the close of trading Friday for shareholders of record as of Monday. The move is designed to make Apple stock more affordable for retail investors. The impact of the split, however, might already be factored into the Apple share price, says Avondale Partners analyst John Bright. Apple stock is up 23% since April 23, when the Cupertino, Calif.-based consumer electronics company announced the stock split along with an expanded stock buyback plan, a dividend increase and better-than-expected fiscal second-quarter earnings. Apple stock was trading near 646 on Friday, so after the split each share will be worth about 92. The lower priced…

Apple’s plans for Beats could include smart headphones

Apple (AAPL) might be looking to add some smarts to headphones from Beats Electronics. The new capabilities aren’t available yet, but Apple could initiate them with a software update in the near future. The company’s latest mobile operating system, iOS 8, is due out this fall. Apple announced its plans to purchase Beats Electronics and subscription streaming music service Beats Music on May 28, following several weeks of speculation. Apple is paying $3 billion for Beats, its largest acquisition ever. Apple expects the transaction…

Apple iWatch expected to debut with iPhone 6 this fall

The Apple (AAPL) iWatch is likely to be unveiled with the iPhone 6 in September, reports an analyst attending a major tech show in Taiwan currently underway. Wearable technology is the major theme at Computex Taipei, where analyst Brian White of Cantor Fitzgerald said information he collected “highlighted that initial production of certain iWatch components is scheduled to begin later this month,” with plans for a sharp acceleration into fall. “Since our research suggests the first iteration of the iWatch is more of a companion device, and thus requires a connection to an iPhone, we believe unveiling the two new devices at the same time makes sense,” he wrote.
