Skyworks Seen With Apple iPhone Boost In Fiscal Q4

Skyworks Solutions, an Apple chip supplier that last month raised its revenue guidance, is expected to post a 51% revenue jump when it reports its fiscal Q4 earnings results after the market close Thursday. Such an increase would be its most in at least 18 quarters. Skyworks Solutions (SWKS), which is widely believed to be a supplier of radio-frequency chips for Apple (AAPL) iPhones and iPads, on Oct. 14 raised its guidance, forecasting revenue of

Apple preparing to phase out iPad Mini, Taiwan report says

Apple (AAPL) is planning to phase out the iPad Mini as sales of the small tablet get cannibalized by the company’s new large-screen smartphone, according to a media report out of Taiwan. Apple also might be trying to reduce its iPad family, which ballooned last month to five…

Disney casts spell on Apple, Google for video playback

Like the happy ending to a fairy tale, Walt Disney Co. (DIS) has gotten rivals Apple and Google to play nicely together. For example, someone can now buy “Frozen” from the Google Play download store, then play the movie on an Apple iPad or iPhone, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday. The agreement took effect Tuesday and covers movies that people register with the Disney Movies Anywhere app. Previously, movies and TV shows purchased from the Apple iTunes store were limited to playback on Apple’s iOS devices, as well as Mac and Windows computers. Google had similar restrictions for its Google Play store and Android devices. With Disney Movies Anywhere, consumers can get access to more than 400 digital titles from Disney, Pixar and Marvel…
