Samsung hurries next phablet to combat Apple iPhone 6 Plus

S amsung isn’t going to cede the phablet market to Apple (AAPL) without a fight. The South Korean consumer electronics company reportedly plans to release its next phablet, short for phone-tablet, in July to compete with Apple’s popular big-screen iPhone 6 Plus. Samsung usually debuts with its latest Galaxy Note smartphones in September. But it plans to bring out its next-generation phablet, the Galaxy Note 5, more than a month earlier to get the jump on Apple’s next phablet, the rumored iPhone 6S Plus, according to Korean news outlet WhoWired Korea.
