Avago Spikes On Broadcom Talks; Stock In Buy Area

Apple (AAPL) chip supplier Avago Technologies (AVGO) is in advanced talks to acquire Broadcom (BRCM), according to multiple reports. “It isn’t clear what terms the companies are discussing or when a deal could be inked — if there’s one at all,” reported the Wall Street Journal, which broke news of the talks. CBS CEO reveals Apple’s Internet TV ambitions

CBS (CBS) CEO Leslie Moonves on Wednesday spilled the beans on Apple ‘s (AAPL) widely rumored “skinny bundle” Internet TV service. Speaking at the Code conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., Moonves said Apple hopes to shake up the pay-TV business by offering a lower-cost service with a limited set of channels, USA Today reported. “Apple TV is trying to change the universe a little bit as did Sling, as did Sony. What Apple will offer … are a more select group (of channels) for a lower price,” Moonves said. It will compete with other Internet TV services like Dish Network ‘s (DISH) Sling TV and Sony’s (SNE) PlayStation Vue. CBS “probably” will do a deal with Apple on Apple TV, Moonves said. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella named most influential tech exec

Microsoft (MSFT) CEO Satya Nadella beat out such tech icons as Amazon.com (AMZN) CEO Jeff Bezos and Tesla Motors (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk to be named the most influential executive in the tech industry, according to a ranking by Juniper Research. Juniper picked Nadella for its highly subjective top 10 list based on his moves to transform Microsoft to a mobile and cloud computing company from one centered on PCs. Juniper based its tech leader rankings on its assessment of eight key criteria such as “vision, innovation and personal capital.” It announced the rankings on Wednesday. The research firm said Nadella’s implementation of “Windows-as-a-Service” represented a fundamental change to Microsoft’s business model, resulting in a very different process of development at the Redmond, Wash.-based software company.
