For the iPhone 6S, Apple has selected a new LTE chip from Qualcomm (QCOM) that is capable of delivering twice the download speeds of the chip used in the current iPhone 6, 9to5Mac reported Wednesday. That means faster downloads of apps, music, movies and Web pages. The Qualcomm MDM9635M chip can download content at a rate of 300 megabits per second when connected to an LTE network. Today’s iPhone 6 is only capable of downloading files at 150 mbps. The new Qualcomm chip is more power efficient, which should translate to better battery life, 9to5Mac said.
