Online dating leader IAC may hook up even more users

InterActiveCorp has rolled up an online dating powerhouse with brands like Match.com, OkCupid and Tinder. The New York City-based company is expected to grab 27% of the estimated $2.2 billion market for U.S. dating services in 2014, according to a new report. Online dating services account for 49% of the U.S. dating service industry, followed by mobile dating (26%), matchmakers (14%) and singles events (7%), IBISWorld says. InterActiveCorp (IACI) is the largest company in the industry. Besides Match.com, OkCupid and Tinder, its host of dating services include Singlesnet, BlackPeopleMeet and SeniorPeopleMeet. In December, media conglomerate IAC organized its online dating services into a separate business called Match Group, with possible plans for a spinoff. IBISWorld analyst Jeremy Edwards predicts IAC’s U.S. Match revenue will rise 11.5% to $605.1 million this year, with operating income up 14% to $192.8 million.
