Microsoft sets bold goal for Windows 10: 1 billion devices

Microsoft (MSFT) is aiming to get its upcoming Windows 10 operating system on 1 billion devices within two or three years. Speaking at the company’s Build developer conference in San Francisco on Wednesday, Microsoft executives said they want Windows 10 to be broadly adopted quickly to provide an attractive platform for software developers. Due out this summer, Windows 10 will run on smartphones, tablets and personal computers. “Our goal is that within two to three years of Windows 10’s release, there will be 1 billion devices running Windows 10,” Terry Myerson, executive vice president of operating systems for Microsoft, said in a speech. “No other platform version in any ecosystem is available on 1 billion devices.” Scalper1 News
