Microsoft close to picking new CEO; Satya Nadella in the lead

Microsoft (MSFT) is close to naming a new CEO to replace retiring Chief Executive Steve Ballmer. Media reports indicate that the software giant is likely to pick an insider for the role, possibly within the next week. Satya Nadella, executive vice president of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise group, is the front-runner, tech news website Re/code reported Thursday. Nadella is responsible for the company’s cloud-computing platforms and services, as well as developer tools. Products that make up Microsoft’s cloud OS include Windows Azure, Windows Server, SQL Server, Visual Studio and System Center. He joined Microsoft in 1992 after working on the technology staff at Sun Microsystems. A native of Hyderabad, India, Nadella earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Mangalore University, a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Wisconsin and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago, according to his Microsoft bio page… Scalper1 News
