IRobot Upgrades Floor-Washing Robot Scooba

LAS VEGAS — After giving its Roomba vacuum-cleaner robot a major upgrade in November, iRobot now has done the same with its Scooba floor-washing robot. Bedford, Mass.-based iRobot took the wraps off its Scooba 450 at the Consumer Electronics Show this week. The new Scooba is up to three times more effective at cleaning floors than previous model Scoobas, iRobot CEO Colin Angle said. “The new Scooba is a complete, blank-sheet-of-paper redesign,” Angle told IBD. “It has triple the cleaning efficacy and massively improved ease of use.” With the Roomba 850 and the Scooba 450, iRobot (IRBT) is “aggressively raising the bar on cleaning,” he said. “Our strategy in an environment where competition is coming is to figure out how to do the job better than anyone else. “From a business standpoint, it’s very important because the older version of Scooba we never felt was at a point where we were … Scalper1 News
