GoPro adding quadcopters, 360-degree video rigs to lineup

GoPro (GPRO) stock headed skyward Thursday on news that the action camera maker is spreading its wings into aerial drones and 360-degree video cameras. Speaking at the Code conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., late Wednesday, GoPro CEO Nick Woodman announced that his company is making a quadcopter and a six-camera rig for shooting spherical video for virtual reality headsets. Both products had been rumored, but Woodman used his appearance to provide details on GoPro’s plans. GoPro stock was up 7% to 57 in midday trading on the stock market today, at a four-month high. GoPro stock has jumped more than 50% since bottoming at 37.13 on March 10. The GoPro drone will be aimed at consumers and should come out in the first half of 2016, TechCrunch reported .
