Comcast (CMCSA) will announce a deal Thursday to buy rival Time Warner Cable (TWC) for about $159 a share, according to several sources Wednesday evening, creating a cable and Internet giant and trumping Charter Communications’ (CHTR) hostile takeover bid. Comcast, the No. 1 U.S. cable operator, would pay 2.875 shares per share of Time Warner Cable, its closest rival, CNBC’s David Faber said in a tweet.
