Chinese smartphone makers will expand sales overseas in 2014, marking a major shift in the wireless market toward “commodity hardware,” says Barclays in a report. “We estimate 40% of the smartphone units from China makers (Huawei, Lenovo, Coolpad, ZTE, TCL Communications and Xiaomi) will be shipped to the overseas markets in 2014, up from 25% in 2013,” Barclays analyst Ben Reitzes said in a report.
