China’s wireless service providers finally are set to launch 4G data networks, later than most carriers worldwide. But it’ll be worth the wait for them: The government is expected to dole out radio spectrum essentially for free. Wireless firms in the U.S., Europe, India and other markets typically spend billions of dollars to acquire airwaves in government auctions. Not so in China.
