Applied Materials Seen Posting Double-Digit Growth

Chip gear maker Applied Materials (AMAT) is scheduled to report its fiscal second-quarter earnings after the market close Thursday. The consensus estimate, among analysts polled by Thomson Reuters, is for revenue of $2.35 billion. That would be up 20% from the same quarter a year ago and its third quarter in a row of double-digit gains. That was preceded by eight quarters in a row of double-digit declines.
