GoPro sell-off ahead of Q4 earnings report ‘overdone’

GoPro (GPRO) hopes to get some big mo with its fourth-quarter earnings due out after the close Thursday. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expect the maker of Hero-brand action cameras to earn 70 cents a share minus items, up 94% year over year, on sales of $580 million, up 60%, for the holiday quarter. For the March quarter, Wall Street is modeling GoPro to earn 17 cents a share ex items, up 42%, on $325 million in sales, up 38%. GoPro was a darling of investors last fall after the company’s successful IPO. GoPro went public on June 26 at 24 and climbed to an all-time high of 98.47 on Oct. 7. Since then, it’s lost roughly half its value. GoPro stock was down 5% in early afternoon trading on the stock market today near 52. GoPro skates into pro sports with NHL deal

A ction camera maker GoPro (GPRO) has inked a deal with the National Hockey League and the NHL Players’ Association that promises to put fans closer to the action on the ice. Starting this weekend with the NHL All-Star Skills Competition and All-Star Game, players will be wearing GoPro cameras that transmit live video for broadcast. The partnership will deliver never-before-seen perspectives of the game in high-definition video, GoPro said in a press release Friday. GoPro stock was up more than 6.5% in midday trading on the stock market today, near 51.50. The agreement is GoPro’s first with a major professional sports league.
