Conan O’Brien conquers YouTube but gets crushed by LinkedIn

Comedian Conan O’Brien has risen to the top of YouTube, but his attempt to conquer LinkedIn  (LNKD) was a crushing failure. O’Brien, host of the TBS talk show “Conan,” announced Dec. 11 that his channel on Google’s (GOOGL) YouTube surpassed 1 billion views. He commemorated the historic milestone with a funny video showing how he accomplished the feat. But not all of O’Brien’s endeavors in social media have succeeded. In September 2013, Conan set a goal of becoming the No. 1 Influencer on the professional social network LinkedIn. He flogged his attempts to grow his LinkedIn follower count over six video segments, with the last one airing on Jan. 22.

Apple Pay accounted for 1% of dollars spent using mobile payment services in November. Since its Oct. 20 launch, Apple Pay is showing strong momentum, ITG analyst…

That compares with 1% among Generation X respondents and, for baby boomers … 0%. These statistics help explain why Amazon (AMZN) agreed to buy Twitch for $970 million on Aug. 25. Twitch is a streaming video platform, primarily focused on video games, including play-throughs of video games by users and live broadcasts of e-sports. Twitch gets about 45 million unique visitors a month. Amazon reportedly outbid Google (GOOGL) for Twitch. Google hosts a lot of…
