Shares of BlackBerry (BBRY) perked up on news that the smartphone maker had partnered with Google (GOOGL) to enable its BES12 software to run Android for Work, giving users access to Google’s productivity suite. The new Android for Work, which the search giant introduced Wednesday, splits up apps into work and play. Personal data are secured separately from the device’s business profile, limiting a company’s IT access to the user’s work files.
Google (GOOGL) has the largest market capitalization of all Internet companies. On Tuesday, Google had a market cap of $366 billion. The biggest wireless carriers in the U.S. will pre-install the Google Wallet mobile payments app on Android phones later this year, Google (GOOGL) said Monday. Google announced a deal with AT&T (T), T-Mobile US (TMUS) and Verizon (VZ) as well as their mobile payment company Softcard. As part of the deal, Google is acquiring technology and intellectual property from Softcard that will make Google Wallet better, the Internet search leader said.
