Slowing China sales, iPhone 6 juggernaut pinching Android

Slowing smartphone sales in China and continued strong sales of Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone 6 handsets will hurt sales of Google (GOOGL) Android-based smartphones this year, market research firm IDC said Tuesday. Android smartphone shipments are forecast to rise 8.5% in 2015, compared with 11.3% growth for the total worldwide smartphone market, IDC said. By comparison, Apple iPhone sales are seen rising 23% in 2015, thanks to strong uptake of its new bigger-screen handsets. Smartphone growth overall is slowing. Last year, smartphone shipments worldwide rose 27.6%, IDC said. IDC said 2015 will bring two notable milestones.

58.com Q1 Loss Worsens, Revenue Soars Amid Expansion

58.com (WUBA) early Tuesday reported a worse-than-expected first-quarter loss on rising costs. Netflix international subscribers seen skyrocketing

Netflix (NFLX) could reach 104 million international subscribers by 2020, five times its current count, Cowen analyst John Blackledge predicted Tuesday. Blackledge raised his international subscriber forecast from his prior target of 62 million, based on the company’s rapid global rollout. The streaming video service expects to complete its international expansion by the end of 2016, and keep gaining subscribers in nations where it establishes itself. Blackledge reiterated his outperform rating on Netflix stock and bumped up his price target to 760 from 625. Netflix stock was down a fraction, near 616, in afternoon trading on the stock market today. It hit a record high of 628.50 on May 19 and jumped more than 18% on April 16 after Q1 earnings beat. Blackledge expects Netflix to enter Japan, Italy, Spain and Portugal in the second half of the year. He sees Netflix ending 2015 with 29.8 million…
