Microsoft’s Windows 10 out July 29, in time for back-to-school
Microsoft’s (MSFT) next-generation PC operating system, Windows 10, will be available starting July 29 in 190 countries, the company announced Monday. Windows 10 will be available on new PCs and as a free upgrade for one year to users of Windows 7 and Windows 8. (Microsoft skipped Windows 9 in its naming scheme. Why? Because 7 8 9.) Windows 10 is Microsoft’s attempt to correct gripes with Windows 8, which featured a new user interface optimized for touchscreen PCs, even though few people owned them.
