Apple Watch finally heading to stores by June 18

Apple (AAPL) announced Thursday that some Apple Watch models will be available in its retail stores within two weeks, which is a month later than expected. The smartwatch — Apple’s first new product in five years — went on sale online-only in April and has been available in stores for just demonstration purposes. “We’re also making great progress with the backlog of Apple Watch orders,” Jeff Williams, Apple’s senior vice president of operations, said in a company statement Thursday. Except for one model, all orders placed through May will ship within two weeks, the company said. Apple Watch is available in nine countries, including the U.S., the U.K., Australia, China and Japan. Alibaba Pictures Raising $1.6 Billion In Stock Sale

Flexing its muscles in the entertainment world, a separately traded unit of Alibaba Group (BABA) announced plans to raise $1.57 billion to finance potential acquisitions in media related investments. Alibaba Pictures Group, which trades on the Hong Kong stock exchange, has reached a deal to sell 4.2 billion shares at $2.90 in Hong Kong dollars (37 cents) each to select investors.
