China’s Alibaba Group Beefs Up In D.C. With Lobbyist

As it continues a global expansion, China e-commerce leader Alibaba Group (BABA) announced it’s appointed Eric Pelletier vice president of international government affairs. Pelletier will be based in Washington, D.C., and lead Alibaba’s government affairs activities outside of China, the company said. It’s a new position. JA Solar’s CEO Offers To Take Company Private

JA Solar (JASO) shares jumped Friday after the Chinese solar module and cell maker’s CEO offered to take the company private. CEO Baofang Jin said it would pay $9.69 per U.S. share for each share he doesn’t currently own, a 20% premium on Thursday’s closing price.
