‘Star Fox’ leads slim holiday game slate for Nintendo

LOS ANGELES — Nintendo’s (NTDOY) game lineup at E3 exposes a light release slate of new titles this holiday season for the family-friendly video game maker. Nintendo skipped the traditional live media event at the Electronic Entertainment Expo on Tuesday in favor of a pre-recorded digital event streamed on Amazon.com (AMZN)-owned Twitch. The event yielded no surprise game announcements. Nintendo focused attention on “Star Fox Zero,” a space adventure game for its Wii U console featuring anthropomorphic animals as heroes. “Star Fox Zero” is due out this holiday season. Other upcoming first-party Wii U releases include game creation software “Super Mario Maker,” set for release Sept. 11, and “Yoshi’s Woolly World,” due out Oct. 16. It also scheduled science-fiction action game “Xenoblade Chronicles X” for a Dec. 4 release. China search leader Baidu (BIDU) said that its iQiyi video streaming subsidiary has hit 5 million subscribers as of June 15, which it said was a 765% rise from June 15, 2014.
