U.K. Claims Bragging Rights To Fastest Mobile Data

Wireless data speeds are surging in the U.K., one of a few countries where average mobile data connection speeds are faster than fixed-line broadband, though that number is rising, according to the Akamai Technologies’ (AKAM) Q1 “State of the Internet” report. The U.K’s average mobile data connection speeds jumped 28% to 20.4 megabits per second last quarter from Q4 2014, says the report. Average fixed-line data speeds in the U.K. were 11.6 mbps.

Micron Hurt By Slow PC Sales, Memory Pricing

Micron Technology (MU) tanked Friday after missing fiscal third-quarter targets, pulling other chip stocks down with it. Boise, Idaho-based Micron late Thursday also gave weak guidance for the current quarter. Micron stock was down 18% in midday trading on the stock market today, at a 19-month low near 19.50.
