Batman drives video game sales higher in June

Video game sales returned to growth in June with an assist from the Caped Crusader. June sales of new video game products at U.S. retail rose 18% vs. June 2014 to $869.4 million, the NPD Group reported late Thursday. In May, game sales fell 13% year over year. Video game hardware sales rose 8% to $313.1 million. Game software sales jumped 21% to $345.5 million. And game accessories sales leaped 34% to $210.7 million, NPD said. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, a unit of Time Warner (TWX), was the big winner among game publishers in June. It had the No. 1 game in “Batman: Arkham Knight” and had four of the top 10 best-selling games last month. Rapid7 Rockets On Cybersecurity Firm’s IPO Debut

Cybersecurity firm Rapid7 (RPD) popped 67% as it began trading Friday morning, pricing at 16 and opening at 26.75, one of three initial public offerings. Rapid7 raised $103 million when it priced late Thursday above its expected range of 13 to 15, offering 6.45 million shares. The company says it has 3,900 customers globally. Allscripts Stock Jumps After Prelim Q2 Beats Street

Medical software maker Allscripts Healthcare Solutions (MDRX) surged to an 11-month high Friday after its preliminary Q2 earnings beat estimates late Thursday. Allscripts said sales were $350 million to $353 million in the quarter, roughly flat with the year-earlier quarter but above analysts’ consensus of $348 million, according to Thomson Reuters.
