GE picks Microsoft’s Office 365 productivity suite

General Electric (GE) on Monday gave a big endorsement to Microsoft’s (MSFT) Office 365 by choosing the cloud productivity software suite for its more than 300,000 employees across 170 countries worldwide. GE selected Office 365 based on Microsoft’s ability to deliver rich productivity experiences at massive scale across devices and platforms, the company said in a press release. Office 365 includes such familiar programs as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Its main competition is Google Docs from Google (GOOGL). Key features of Office 365 for GE workers include Skype for Business calling and meetings, real-time document co-authoring, and team collaboration. In other cloud computing news, Microsoft reportedly is buying cloud security company Adallom for about $320 million, Israeli business news website Globes reported Sunday. GoPro up on Toyota deal, content licensing portal

GoPro (GPRO) stock is rallying ahead of its second-quarter earnings report, scheduled for after the market close Tuesday. Shares of the action camera maker were up as much as 7.3% on the stock market today. In midday trading, GoPro stock was up nearly 5%, near 60. On Monday, the San Mateo, Calif.-based company unveiled a premium content licensing portal targeted to global advertising agencies.
