Microsoft hopes to woo back consumers with Windows 10

Microsoft (MSFT) on Wednesday launched a campaign to win back consumers with the release of Windows 10, a PC operating system that brings back the familiar Start menu while adding a bunch of new features. Microsoft alienated many consumers with its last operating system, Windows 8, released in October 2012. Windows 8 featured a revamped user interface designed for touchscreens when few PCs had them. It was clunky to use with a keyboard and mouse nd hard to navigate because it lacked the traditional Start menu to find programs and files. As a mea culpa to consumers, Microsoft is offering Windows 10 as a free upgrade to owners of Windows 7 and 8 PCs for the next year. Big Data Stock Tableau Goes From Hot To Cold

Tableau Software (DATA) took a big spill in the stock market today. The Big Data firm surpassed Q2 earnings and revenue expectations, but investors were still disappointed that the company didn’t have an even bigger beat. Shares dropped as much as 22% in huge volume Wednesday, falling to a nearly three-month low and their 200-day line intraday. SunPower Stock Jumps On Q2 Report, Analysts Urge Buy

SunPower (SPWR) stock jumped Wednesday after the No. 2 solar panel maker’s 2015 guidance and Q2 earnings beat some analyst expectations. Late Tuesday, SunPower said it expects non-GAAP revenue of $2.4 billion to $2.6 billion this year, which would be down 3.8% at the midpoint from 2014.
