Apple component suppliers are scrambling to make enough screens for the upcoming iPhone 6 after Apple realized it goofed in its product design, Reuters reported Friday. Wanting to make the thinnest smartphone possible, Apple tried to get away with using a single layer of backlight film for the display, instead of the standard two layers, for its 4.7-inch screen handset, the wire service said. But the configuration with a single layer of backlight film was not bright enough, Reuters said. The backlight helps illuminate the display. Ownership of Apple (AAPL) stock by institutional investment firms edged up 1.3% in the second quarter from Q1, as confidence in the company’s performance rose. The increase follows a 4.3% decline in Q1 from Q4, reports FactSet Research.
