Apple blunder could impact iPhone 6 supply this fall

Apple component suppliers are scrambling to make enough screens for the upcoming iPhone 6 after Apple realized it goofed in its product design, Reuters reported Friday. Wanting to make the thinnest smartphone possible, Apple tried to get away with using a single layer of backlight film for the display, instead of the standard two layers, for its 4.7-inch screen handset, the wire service said. But the configuration with a single layer of backlight film was not bright enough, Reuters said. The backlight helps illuminate the display. Apple Stock Held By Institutional Investors Rises

Ownership of Apple (AAPL) stock by institutional investment firms edged up 1.3% in the second quarter from Q1, as confidence in the company’s performance rose. The increase follows a 4.3% decline in Q1 from Q4, reports FactSet Research.
