Apple faces ballooning iPad tablet lineup

For years, and as recently as last month, Apple (AAPL) CEO Tim Cook has boasted that you could fit all of the products Apple makes onto an average size kitchen table. It was a sign of the company’s tight focus. But now, Apple practically needs a table just for its ballooning iPad family. With its launch Thursday of a second-generation iPad Air and third-generation iPad Mini, Apple now will be managing five tablet models with 22 total configurations, ranging from the 16-gigabyte first-generation iPad Mini for $249 to the 128 GB iPad Air 2 for $829. And in the first 30 days, we have set a new high-water mark for the most orders taken. And I don’t mean by a little — by a lot, a whole lot.” The rollout of new iPhones around the world is “going well,” Cook said…

Apple Marches Out Royally Thin iPad Air 2, New Macs

Apple’s whisper-thin iPad Air 2 would have been a hit with Wallis Simpson, the Duchess of Windsor, who famously said, “You can never be too rich or too thin.” The new iPad Air measures 6.1 millimeters thin, 18% thinner than the original 7.5 millimeter-thin model introduced last fall. Apple (AAPL) unveiled the iPad Air 2 tablet at a media event Thursday at its headquarters in Cupertino, Calif. It also took the wraps off the iPad Mini 3 tablet, an
