‘Smash Bros.’ off to fast start; Wii U sales impact unknown

The family-friendly fighting game “Super Smash Bros.” has the makings of a smash hit for Nintendo (NTDOY). But whether it can help Nintendo sell Wii U video game consoles remains to be seen. Nintendo released the game, which features popular characters from other games battling in fantasy settings, last Friday for the Wii U console. A version of the game for Nintendo’s 3DS handheld device came out on Oct. 3 in the U.S. and was the second best-selling video game last month. On Tuesday, Nintendo announced that it had sold more than 490,000 physical and digital copies of “Super Smash Bros. for Wii U” in the U.S. during its first three days of availability. That makes it the fastest-selling Wii U title in the U.S., dethroning Nintendo’s “Mario Kart 8.” The Wii U version of “Super Smash Bros.”, which retails for $59.99, has earned a Metacritic score of 92… Scalper1 News
