China search leader Baidu (BIDU) officially confirmed Wednesday that it had bought a stake in alternative taxi service Uber, as the San Francisco-based ride-summoning service strives to expand in China. The investment was widely reported last week. Under the terms, Baidu will make an unspecified investment in Uber and enable users of Mobile Baidu, the company’s flagship mobile search app, and of Baidu Map to connect with their Uber drivers.
